Description
The lacquer art is very popular in Russia. It developed from the art of icon painting that began in XV c. From 15 to 200 miles northwest of Moscow are the villages of Fedoskino, Palekh, Mstera, Kholui and Zhostovo. It is in this tiny area that all Russian lacquer boxes, trays and accessories crafted. Each village has its own style and favorite subjects: fairy tales, village scenes, landscapes and bouquets.
